This map is generated using live flight tracking data from commercial flights (private flights are not displayed). The current turbulence and wind conditions are provided by NOAA/NWS
Since turbulence and wind vary depending on the altitude, the flights are split in different altitude ranges that the users can select. When selecting the option of "All altitudes", no turbulence or wind data is presented since there is no single value that can represent the conditions at all altitudes.
Once a flight is slected (or clicked on), the map will refresh its track and altitude during every update cycle. For example, if the plane was at cruise level an begins to descend, the visualized turbulence layer will change as the plane approaches lower altitudes.
